Celebrated singer and actor Cem Belevi is preparing to meet audiences once again with his hugely popular stage show CEMiyet Gazinosu on the evening of Saturday 24 January at Çapa Pera, one of the iconic venues of Istanbul’s arts and entertainment scene. Reimagining gazino culture through a contemporary stage language, the show offers a magical story of time travel that brings many artistic disciplines together on a single stage.
One of the cult addresses of Istanbul nightlife, Çapa Pera, with its powerful atmosphere and theatrical spirit, remains a natural home for CEMiyet Gazinosu. This special performance at Çapa Pera on the evening of Saturday 24 January invites Istanbul audiences to a multi-layered cultural and artistic gathering.
Positioned as a time-travel story brought to our entertainment scene from the world of arts and culture, CEMiyet Gazinosu aims to offer today’s audiences a new stage aesthetic and narrative language without confining gazino culture to nostalgia. With its quality, family-friendly approach to entertainment, the show continues to be staged in cities across Turkey.
A Repertoire Spanning the 70s to Today
On the CEMiyet Gazinosu stage, the rich memory of Turkish music from the 1970s to the present is reinterpreted through a repertoire, stage sets and dances that capture the spirit of the era. Rather than romanticising nostalgia, the show builds a contemporary stage language that rereads gazino culture for today’s audiences.
Known for his musical training in London, his powerful voice and his versatile approach to performance, Cem Belevi includes his own compositions on the CEMiyet Gazinosu stage alongside songs that pay tribute to masters such as Zeki Müren, Ferdi Özbeğen and Orhan Gencebay.
