Created to contribute to book and reading culture in Türkiye, the Kitapyurdu Türkiye Readers’ Awards are set to name the best books of 2023. The competition brings writers and their books together with readers’ appreciation.
The Kitapyurdu Türkiye Readers’ Awards, in which readers’ votes will decide the best Turkish and international books published in 2023, will be held in two rounds. In the first round of voting, from 22 February to 23 March, readers will be able to vote for any book published last year across 10 different categories. The 20 books with the most votes in each category in the first round will go through to the final.
The final round of voting, covering the novel, short story, poetry, history, memoir and essay, philosophy, children’s, social life, religious life and “my first book” categories, will take place from 29 March to 12 April. In both rounds, readers will have just 1 vote in each category. With notable Turkish and international writers and books in every category, the competition aims in particular to encourage new writers and lovers of writing through its “İlk Kitabım” (My First Book) category.
Organised by Kitapyurdu and expected to fill an important gap in the sector, the Kitapyurdu Türkiye Readers’ Awards will be voted on via the Kitapyurdu website and mobile apps. To ensure that voting is fair and to prevent manipulation and interference, only readers who held a Kitapyurdu membership before 31 December 2023 will be able to vote.
