Kuş Kolektifi’s First Concert at the Pera Museum
The Pera Museum hosts the first concert by Kuş Kolektifi (Bird Collective), a nature movement grounded in music, observation and hope. Taking place on the evening of Saturday 24 January in the gallery housing the exhibition Kesişen Dünyalar: Elçiler ve Ressamlar (Intersecting Worlds: Ambassadors and Painters), the concert brings together birdsong recorded across Turkey with live instruments, electronic arrangements and improvisation, offering a multi-layered listening experience in which nature, music and shared memory intersect within the museum space.
The Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Pera Museum hosts the first concert by Kuş Kolektifi, a nature movement grounded in music, observation and hope. At the concert, taking place on Saturday 24 January at 19:30, the collective will invite listeners to rethink the bond between humans and nature through sound.
A shared memory built from vanishing sounds
Taking an interdisciplinary approach, Kuş Kolektifi combines birdsong recorded in different regions of Turkey with live instruments, electronic arrangements and spontaneous improvisation. This distinctive encounter between music and the ancient sounds of nature is conceived not simply as a concert but as a space of shared memory built from the sounds of creatures and instruments that are disappearing, dwindling and all too often go unnoticed.
Throughout the concert, the songs of endangered birds, recorded in their natural habitats, come back to life on stage. In this multi-layered narrative, where traditional and contemporary techniques of sound production intertwine, music becomes a practice of listening attuned to the flow of nature. Every vibration carries a trace that touches the ecological memory of the land we live in.
A multi-layered concert experience on the exhibition floor
Held in the gallery housing the exhibition Kesişen Dünyalar: Elçiler ve Ressamlar, which brings together a selection from the Pera Museum’s Orientalist Painting Collection, the concert offers a unique listening experience in which the historical layers of the museum space and sounds recorded in nature can be felt at once. The exhibition space becomes more than a backdrop for echoing sounds, turning, together with the music, into a space of shared memory.
The concert, held in the gallery housing the exhibition Kesişen Dünyalar: Elçiler ve Ressamlar at the Pera Museum, is free of charge. No reservations are taken.
