To ask “Why?” is to take responsibility for your own life.
Yes, it is a heavy burden. It is far easier to shelter under an authority, to follow the dogmas of a community, to wait in the belief that “real life is about to begin”. But that ease is, in truth, a kind of spiritual slavery. In this book I have offered you not the comfort of that slavery, but the startling and sometimes painful nakedness of freedom.

About the Author:
Ayşe Eser is a strategist and content creator working in communications and brand strategy. While completing her academic studies in communications, she began reading ever more deeply in sociology, social structure and the individual’s place within that structure. Her interest in consumer culture, identity construction and the commodification of emotions became the core motivation behind her work. In her professional life she has worked in the engine room of a system in which brands sell not just products but feelings and meaning; in her personal work, she has chosen to decode the invisible effects of that system on people. Through social media, podcasts and writing, she produces content that questions the pressures modern people face, their search for identity and the lifestyles marketed under the label of “normal”. Today she lives between Berlin and Istanbul; while trying to preserve her ability to question the system’s narratives, she is also focused on keeping alive the freshly awakening curiosity about life of her son, Deniz Can.
