Starring Kıvanç Baran Arslan and Kadir Polatcı, who look set to become Turkish cinema’s new double act, ‘Olay Para’ (It’s All About the Money) is getting ready to meet audiences from 19 December. The trailer for the film – which is bound to make a name for itself with its story, pace, storytelling, cast and production – has been very well received. As the whole team and film fans alike began the countdown to the release, comments poured in such as ‘we’re getting ready to laugh’ and ‘at last, a couple of hours of real fun’.
The comedy, which is set to put a smile on the faces of both the industry at the box office and audiences in the cinema, was directed by Kıvanç Baran Arslan, who also stars in it. Arslan, who co-wrote the screenplay with his co-star Kadir Polatcı, makes an ambitious entrance to cinema with his first feature.
Satirising life in an age when the whole ‘Olay’ (point) is ‘Para’ (money), and laying bare everyday events in the language of comedy, the film arrives with a huge cast… Featuring Kadir Polatcı, Kıvanç Baran Arslan, Cemil Şahin, Uğur Aslan, Görkem Sevindik, İlker Aksum, Ünal Yeter, Evliya Aykan, Bülent Alkış, Serkan Kuru, Deniz Erdoğan and Hakan İşleyen, the film is set to unleash a storm of laughter at the box office.
In the film, which promises to satisfy audiences’ long-standing hunger for ‘quality comedy’, Dinçer (Kıvanç Baran Arslan), a film producer, and Koray (Kadir Polatcı), a businessman, have hit rock bottom. Brooding in despair in the office they must vacate the next day, the pair are suddenly stunned when 5 million TL lands in Dinçer’s account.
For the two of them, who realise from the very first moment that the money has arrived in their account by mistake, nothing will ever be the same again…
Produced by Lin Yapım and distributed by A90 Pictures, the film reaches cinemas from 19 December.
