Popular singers Sevcan Dalkıran and Özay Bakır spoke candidly about their musical journeys and talked about their new projects.
Singers Sevcan Dalkıran and Özay Bakır were the guests of Berke Kosova, Semih Sezerli and Cengizhan Muhçun on “90’lar Futbol Smart”, D-Smart’s popular show bringing together football and 90s music.
Talking about her new song on the programme, well-known singer Özay Bakır said: “In the song ‘Birini Buldun Mu?’ (Did You Find Someone?) there’s a line along the lines of ‘come back whether you find someone or not’. That also refers to my upcoming song, ‘Dön’ (Come Back). In my new song I’ll be making a reference to that song as well.”
Stressing that since the pandemic she has focused on making her own music, Bakır said: “I started doing my own arrangements. Rather than ‘let me release a song and then see how it’s received’, I put together a one-to-two-year schedule. Unless there’s a major change to our plans, my songs are ready.”
Sevcan Dalkıran: “Without pain, you can’t sing well”
Describing herself as having a deeply melancholic soul, Sevcan Dalkıran said: “I think sorrow teaches us something too. Without pain, you can’t sing well. As Sezen Aksu said, ‘Songs that haven’t passed through pain are a little incomplete.’”
Talking about her new project, Dalkıran said: “The response to ‘Eller Havaya’ (Hands in the Air) was really good. Before that we had a project called ‘Yangındım Sana’ (I Was Burning for You). Our new song is on its way; it’s another Cancer-season song, another very melancholic one. Everything good was in the 90s; those were the years of real feelings and real songs. I have a few songs in mind that I’m thinking of covering. That 90s kind of sincerity just isn’t around any more.”
