Aida Garifullina and Murat Karahan Share the Stage in Istanbul and Ankara in January

Soprano Aida Garifullina, acclaimed on the world’s leading opera stages, and Murat Karahan, one of Türkiye’s most internationally successful tenors, will share the stage in New Year concerts organised by Piu Entertainment. They perform at the Turkcell Basketbol Gelişim Merkezi in Istanbul on 8 January 2027 and at ATO Congresium in Ankara on 10 January 2027.

Garifullina rose to international fame with performances at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, La Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera House in London, the Paris Opera and the Salzburg Festival. Winner of Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competition in 2013, she is also known for her Decca album “AIDA” and sang with Robbie Williams at the opening ceremony of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Murat Karahan has sung leading roles at the Vienna State Opera, the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Bavarian State Opera and Teatro di San Carlo in Naples. In 2019 he made festival history at the Arena di Verona by singing the lead in four of the five operas staged that season; he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 2021 and the Pavarotti Special Honour Award in 2025, at an event marking the 90th anniversary of Luciano Pavarotti’s birth.
