Oscar Wilde’s only novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray, is being brought to the stage as a Zorlu PSM production directed by Mehmet Birkiye. The play will premiere on 3 December as part of the 30th Istanbul Theatre Festival and then run at Zorlu PSM throughout the season.
Adapted for the contemporary stage by Kerem Kurdoğlu, the production stars Salih Bademci, Engin Hepileri and Yiğit Sertdemir. Set and costume design is by Şirin Dağtekin Yenen, lighting by Cem Yılmazer, music by Fırat Akarcalı and choreography by Tuğçe Tuna.
Notable for its use of a chorus and its distinctive stage language, the 90-minute one-act play reinterprets the story’s themes of beauty, youth and conscience through the possibilities of the stage.
The cast also includes Cansu Bahadır, Çağrı Özdoğan, Emre Yıldızlar, İlkin Öykü Fışkın, Koray Efe Yazgan, Songül Boztepe, Umur Berk Seven and Yasemin Aksel. Dolkun Production is the executive producer.
