Borusan Contemporary opened its 2026–2027 season on 19 September with two exhibitions: “Time Space Geometry”, the first solo show in Türkiye by Italian photographer Olivo Barbieri, and “Perili” (Haunted), a selection from the Borusan Contemporary Art Collection. Both run until 15 August 2027.
Curated by Dr. Fırat Arapoğlu, “Time Space Geometry” brings together five of Barbieri’s series from 1999–2023: “Time Space Geometry” (2023), “site specific_” (1999–2013), “The Waterfall Project” (2006–2007), “Alps – Geographies and People” (2012) and “Capri” (2013). Through aerial views and optical interventions, the artist turns familiar landscapes into unexpected, at times surreal images.
The title series, commissioned by the collection and shot at nine ancient cities in Anatolia (Perge, Kibyra, Laodicea, Hierapolis, Aphrodisias, Ephesus, Sagalassos, Side and Myra), is being shown for the first time. Barbieri says what remains of these cities are “geometric forms shaped by mathematics, space and time.”
Curated by Borusan Contemporary Director Dr. Kumru Eren, “Perili” explores how artificial intelligence, algorithms and data technologies are transforming the visual world. It brings works by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Memo Akten, teamLab, Quayola, Zimoun, DRIFT, Marco Brambilla and Daniel Canogar together with early works by Kemal Önsoy. The exhibition takes its name from the historic Perili Köşk, the institution’s home since 2011.
