“Doğu Masalları: Bir Varmış, Bir Yokmuş” (Eastern Tales: Once Upon a Time), an exhibition that turns fairy tales into something to be experienced rather than simply told, has opened at Konya Depo No. 4 Art Gallery. Curated by Güven Adıgüzel and Seyid Çolak, it runs until 18 December.
Treating the tale not only as a narrative form but also as a way of remembering, passing on and healing, the exhibition reinterprets traditional fairy-tale motifs through contemporary art and immersive spaces.
The painting selection is organised around three themes: “The East’s Own Tale”, “The West’s View of the East” and “Modern Interpretations”. Ranging from miniature, calligraphy and manuscript traditions to Orientalist works and contemporary pieces made for the show, it includes oil, ink and mixed-media works.
Visitors encounter experience areas such as Video Art, the Dream Garden, the Konya Tales Room and Tell Me a Tale. The main hall features large-scale installations including the Giant Genie Bottle, the Wheel of Fate, Mount Qaf/Simurgh, the Great Atlas of Tales, 40 Tales–40 Keys, the Tale Chest and the Wise Bird.
